Diaro de Sevilla, 02-mar-2011: La actriz malagueña Amparo Muñoz, Miss Universo en 1974, recibió ayer el último adiós en el Parque Cementerio de Málaga, donde fue incinerada. Muñoz falleció el pasado domingo en su domicilio de la capital malagueña tras sufrir una larga enfermedad. Los familiares y amigos más cercanos de la actriz le dieron ayer el último adiós. Allí se encontraba, entre otros, el actor Máximo Valverde, que se mostró muy afectado y explicó cómo había sido su relación sentimental con la artista. "La quise mucho en una época de mi vida. Quizá es la mujer que más he querido de todas las mujeres a las que he amado."

La actriz, nacida el 21 de junio de 1954 en el municipio malagueño de Vélez-Málaga, fue elegida Miss Costa del Sol y Miss España en 1973 y el 22 de julio de 1974 se hizo con el título de Miss Universo en un certamen celebrado en Manila (Filipinas). Sin embargo, a los seis meses de su reinado, marcado por la polémica, renunció a la corona. Entre las películas en las que participó se encuentran Vida conyugal (1973), dirigida por Roberto Bodegas; Tocata y fuga de Lolita (1974), de Antonio Drove; Clara es el precio (1974), de Vicente Aranda, y Sensualidad (1975), de Germán Lorente.

Diario de Sevilla, 02-mar-2011: The Malaga actress Amparo Muñoz, Miss Universe 1974, was laid to rest yesterday in the Park Cemetery in Malaga, where she was cremated. Muñoz died on Sunday at her home after a long illness. Relatives and close friends attended the service. There was, among others, actor Max Valverde, who was very moved and talked about his relationship with Muñoz. "I loved her a lot at one time in my life. Maybe she's the one I loved most of all."

The actress, born on June 21, 1954 in the town of Velez-Malaga, Malaga, was elected Miss Costa del Sol and Miss Spain in 1973, and on July 22, 1974 took the title of Miss Universe in a competition held in Manila, Philippines. However, after six months of her reign, marked by controversy, she resigned. Among the films she made are Vida Conjugal (1973), directed by Roberto Bodegas, Toccata and Fugue in Lolita (1974), by Antonio Drove, Clara is the Price (1974), by Vicente Aranda, and Sensuality (1975), directed by Lorente Germain.

Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete celebrated her 22nd b-day in China, at a party held at the Mexican Embassy in Peking. Ximena traveled to China to help announce the new director of Miss Universe China, Yue-Sai Kan. In Mumbai this weekend, a bevy of Indian beauty queens walked down the runway for the Mijwan Welfare Society 'Sonnets In Fabric' fashion show featuring creations by Manish Malhotra. The show included the famous hat-trick ladies - Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra, Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta, and Miss Asia Pacific 2000 Dia Mirza - as well as Miss India 2001 Celina Jaitley and Miss India 2002 Neha Dhupia.

Today, the Miss Universe Organization announced that the 60th annual Miss Universe will air live from megacity São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011, in partnership with Brazilian megamedia conglomerate Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação.
