INDIAN SONNETS

In Mumbai this weekend, a bevy of Indian beauty queens walked down the runway for the Mijwan Welfare Society 'Sonnets In Fabric' fashion show featuring creations by Manish Malhotra. The show included the famous hat-trick ladies - Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra, Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta, and Miss Asia Pacific 2000 Dia Mirza - as well as Miss India 2001 Celina Jaitley and Miss India 2002 Neha Dhupia.

TURNING 30 !!!

BSFW 2010 - DAY 3

Neha Kapoor, Miss India 2006 (and top 20 at Miss Universe 2006) has made quite a name for herself on the runways in Mumbai and New Delhi. She made quite a name for herself on the Beauty School campus during Day 3 of BSFW 2010. She even signed autographs at the chicken curry After Party in the cafeteria!

The Amparo Munoz Center for the Performing Arts is the venue for the first annual Beauty School Fashion Week (BSFW). Miss India 2002 Neha Dhupia (and top 10 at Miss Universe 2002) opened BSFW 2010. TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE - 2000

This weekend's crowning of the gorgeous Manasvi Mamgai as Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010 takes us back 10 years. At the 2000 contest, Lara Dutta won the right to represent India at Miss Universe 2000, Priyanka Chopra was named India's delegate to Miss World 2000, and Diya Mirza won a ticket to the Philippines to compete for Miss Asia Pacific 2000. India won the hat trick that year - Lara, Priyanka, and Diya brought back the international crowns for India.

I AM SHE 2010

Indo-Asian News Service, Mumbai, 29-apr-2010: As many as 30 beautiful women selected through a nationwide hunt have made it to the 'I Am She' contest - the preliminary to the 2010 Miss Universe competition and the winner will represent India at the international pageant. The I Am She platform is part of Sushmita Sen’s production company Tantra Entertainment, which was awarded the India franchise to select participants by the Miss Universe Organisation in December.

"Today, being the India licence holder for holding the preliminary to ‘2010 Miss Universe’ pageant, 16 years after bringing the crown to India, feels like life has come full circle for me," Sushmita Sen said in a press release.

The 30 contestants will undergo three weeks of intensive training in communication, diet, personal grooming, fashion, and fitness in advance of the May 28 finale.
