BLACK HISTORY MONTH - MISS WORLD 1963

"MY BOYFRIEND IS A FILTHY SLOB"

In between appearances as the Queen of the Nile, among other things, Miss World 2003 Rosanna Davison writes a weekly advice column for Irish newspaper The Herald.

In this week's Dear Rosanna column, she answers questions about house training a boyfriend, sexy texts, a needy ex, and teenage allowances. Check out Rosanna's advice to the reader who says "my boyfriend is a filthy slob."

QUEEN OF THE NILE

Ireland's Rosanna Davison, Miss World 2003, appears as Cleopatra at the recent 2011 Schoko & Fashion party in Cologne, Germany. A highlight of the German social calendar, the Schoko & Fashion party is sponsored by chocolate company Lambertz. The managing director of the company is a friend of Rosanna's family, and Rosanna's dad, singer Chris de Burgh, also attended the party.

A SEPARATE WORLD

Yesterday's casting call for Miss Philippines 2011 was for the Miss Universe Philippines title, not the Miss World Philippines title. There will be a separate casting call and contest for Miss World Philippines this year. Miss World Organization head Julia Morley is in the Philippines to announce the franchise for Miss World Philippines. In Mumbai this weekend, a bevy of Indian beauty queens walked down the runway for the Mijwan Welfare Society 'Sonnets In Fabric' fashion show featuring creations by Manish Malhotra. The show included the famous hat-trick ladies - Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra, Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta, and Miss Asia Pacific 2000 Dia Mirza - as well as Miss India 2001 Celina Jaitley and Miss India 2002 Neha Dhupia.

TAINTED WORLD

Daily Mail, 01-nov-2010: The Miss World contest was mired in controversy today amid claims that the hot favourite was frozen out because of a diplomatic feud. American teenager Alexandria Mills was crowned the winner of the 60th anniversary beauty contest on Saturday. But the 18-year-old Miss USA’s celebrations were tainted by claims that her biggest rival, Miss Norway, was cheated out of the title by the competition’s Chinese hosts.

Katrine Sorland, a Norwegian TV personality who came fourth in Miss World 2002, said she believed China’s fury at the Nobel Peace Prize committee had influenced the outcome.

‘I was sure she would win,’ she said. ‘They must have mixed politics and business. Without jumping to conclusions I would stress that Miss World competitions have always been political. And the relations between China and Norway are very strained at the moment.’

Miss Birkedal herself was more cautious on whether she had been cheated of the crown.

‘I have been very careful with speculating about that myself,’ she said.

‘It is kind of stupid to start thinking that if this or that had not occurred I would perhaps have been Miss World 2010. I do believe everything happens out of a reason.’

WORLD CONSPIRACY

"The result may have been influenced by the Peace Prize" says the headline in the Norwegian newspaper Aftenbladet. In the headline article, the director of Miss Norway, Geir Hamnes, says, "...we know that it has been speculated that the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to ...Liu Xiaobo may have affected the result. This has created a strained relationship between Norway and China. There were two Chinese on the jury, and if they failed to vote for Mariann for political reasons, there would be enough for her to lose a top position."

The article goes on to say that Hennes quickly added that this is just speculation and is very difficult to prove. Well, Beauty School's Prof. Chandni thinks it is true - she never met a conspiracy theory she didn't like, and this one is one of the World's best!

MISS WORLD 2010

Miss World 2010 is Miss United States Alexandria Mills of Kentucky. She won the title just moments ago in the glittering diamond anniversary edition of Miss World in Sanya, China. First runner-up was Miss Botswana Emma Wareus. Second runner-up was Miss Venezuela Adriana Vasini. Rounding out the top five were Miss China Tang Xiao and Miss Ireland Emma Waldron.

Russia owned a part of the New World, until the USA bought it from them.

The New World - Puerto Rico to be precise - will be the home of the new Miss World 2010.

Beauty School predicts that the MUNDUS NOVUS (New World) will be the home of the new Miss World. Puerto Rico is the (almost) unanimous choice of the faculty, with Prof. Chandni selecting India, of course. If Puerto Rico does not capture the 2010 crown on Saturday, then Norway or Russia will.
