Lottery result for admission to Viqarunnisa School for class 1

The draw of the lottery for admission into class 1 of Viaqarunnisa Noon School and College for 2011 session was held here this morning.

The school has 1,568 seats for class I. Earlier, after the primary selection, the school authorities declared 16,600 applicants, out of 22,119, eligible for lottery.

The lottery was conducted by the BUET, which successfully carried out the lottery for RAJUK residential plots earlier.

Lottery results will be available on the school website and the notice board of all branches of the school and will be published in newspapers.

State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan formally inaugurated the lottery at a function held on main campus of the school on Bailey Road in the city in presence of
guardians, journalists and government officials.Mannan Khan, who conducted lottery in RAJUK Plots in Uttara and Purbachal, said this system will help stop irregularities in  the admission process and ensure transparency and accountabilityin it.The state minister said this lottery system would put an end
to all the hassles that are facing guardians to get theirchildren admitted to the city schools.

He said it is Very difficult to assess the merit of the children in their tender age, it rather creates immense pressure on them to perform and also creates fear among them."The new initiative will end psychological torment of a preschooler to get chance for study," Khan observed.The government earlier decided to introduce lottery system for admission into class I in 24 government high schools in the
capital from next year.The system is already being used by Holy Cross School and College, Mohammadpur Preparatory High School, Herman Mainer College and YWCA School and College.
