East Tennessee State University offers the International Students Academic Merit Scholarship to new international students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The scholarship covers 50% of the total of in and out-of-state tuition and maintenance fees. The award is available for eight semesters for undergraduate recipients. Recipients seeking Master's degrees receive the award for five semesters, or for a period of time commensurate with the length of the recipient's graduate program. Recipients seeking doctorate degrees receive the award for eight semesters, or for a period of time commensurate with the length of the recipient's graduate program.

From April 2011, students may apply for other scholarships from the University of Tsukuba or from other scholarship-granting organizations or bodies.

4. Scholarship Amount Details

• Travel expenses: The scholarship will pay a uniform amount of 100,000 yen for travel expenses to Japan from abroad when entering the University of Tsukuba. However, this travel expense payment is limited to those recipients who will be newly coming to Japan from abroad for the purposes of entering the University of Tsukuba.
• Monthly stipend: Scholarship recipients will receive one of the following monthly stipends based on their results in the entrance examination etc.
  Class 1:　100,000 yen per month
  Class 2: 60,000 yen per month

• Enrollment fee and first-year tuition exemptions: In addition to the above noted travel expenses and monthly stipend, scholarship recipients will receive exemptions from paying their enrollment fee (a one-time only fee of 282,000 yen) and their first-year tuition (from August 2010 to March 2011, 357,200 yen), for a total of 639,200 yen.

ITALY - The Government of Italy Scholarship Grants 2009 for Indonesian Citizens

The Government of Italy offers scholarships to Indonesian citizens wishing to pursue their studies in Italy. The selection is held annually by a Selection Committee consisting of competent authorities and expert representing both Italy and Indonesia. This Scholarship grants are distributed for students, professionals, teachers, and artists who meet the necessary requirements for enrollment in any Italian post-secondary institutions (universities, academies, conservatories, art restoration institutes, National School of Cinematography, research centers or laboratories, libraries, archives, museums and other national or nationally-recognized institutions), and who would like to attend specialization courses or to conduct research in specific fields.

For Italian language study, the scholarships are awarded for specific programs which are held at the Universities for Foreigners in Perugia, Siena and Roma Tre or at the other recognized institutions (which are authorized to issue certification of Italian as a second language).

The short-term scholarships are distributed in the range period between one to nine months and are reserved primarily for courses in Italian language and culture. Applicants must possess a high school diploma at the time they apply and must be 35 years of age or younger (minimum maturity age is 18 years old for Indonesian citizen).

Italian language and culture courses of a one-month period are reserved for Italian language teachers to whom no age limit applies, and for 3rd year University students in the Italian Studies Department.

The long-term scholarships consist of a nine – to twelve-month period, (depending on the length of the course) beginning in autumn. They are awarded for specific research or specialized courses at public post-secondary institutions in any area of study, except for medical studies. All courses of study must be undertaken at the Government approved educational institutions. Applicants for the long-term scholarships interested in undergraduate research or study must possess a high school diploma entitling the applicant to enroll in university; for those wishing to study or conduct research at the post-graduate level, the minimum requirement is a Master’s degree. Applicants must be 35 years of age or younger (minimum maturity age in Indonesia is 18 years old).


GENERAL INFORMATION

Elements taken into consideration by the Selection Committee are:

• The applicant’s curriculum studiorum and vitae.
• The applicant’s proposed program of study (for post-graduate, master courses and doctorate studies).
• The Reference letters from Indonesian or Italian academics (for post-graduate, master courses and doctorate studies).
• The existence of direct contacts between the candidate and Italian academics and/or institutes of higher learning in the candidate’s field of study (applies particularly to applicants for long-term scholarships).
• Knowledge of Italian is mandatory; unless the applicant is applying for Italian language courses or applying for an independent study (in this case the candidate must have a letter from a professor declaring willing to follow the student in another language).
  

Scholarships offered by the Italian Government cover standard living expenses such as boards and lodging expenses, Insurance( valid only in Italian Territory ) , and do not include air fares (return)
Please note that scholarship recipients must make their own travel and lodging arrangements.
Any partial or total exemption from university fees for scholarship recipients is the decision of the individual university/ institution; no exemptions are granted by private institutions.

Changes in the place of study or the starting date will not be permitted once the scholarship has been awarded. Applicants must therefore indicate the name of their chosen institution and the dates of the chosen existing course/s clearly and exactly on their application forms.


DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Please read carefully; incomplete applications will not be accepted.

• three copies ( two in Italian Laguage, one in Indonesian Language ) of the application form (in MS Word Format n. 1), each with original signature and each accompanied by a signed passport-size photograph;
  

When you win the scholarship, you are subsequently required to submit the following documents as soon as possible:

• at least two original letters of reference from professors, teachers and/or professional superiors (for post-graduate, master courses and doctorate studies)
• Original (for authentication) and certified copies of the applicant’s high school diploma and/or university degree(s).
• Original and certified copy of High school transcript;
• Original and certified copy of University transcript, if applicable;
• Original (for authentication) proof of Indonesian citizenship: copies of one of the following: passport, citizenship certificate or birth certificate;
  

Certified copies will not be returned and original documents will be returned upon completion the process of authentication and authorization by the Italian Institute of Culture and the Embassy of Italy.

France - Master and Doctoral Scholarship Program

Scholarship program to study in France

The French Government, through the Embassy of France in Jakarta, has been providing excellence scholarships to Indonesian citizens for more than 28 years. In order to pursue its objective to improve Indonesian human resources, the Embassy of France will offer scholarships for the year 2009.

Those scholarships are given to government officials, lecturers, students, with a priority to those involved in a cooperation program between France and Indonesia, to undertake two kinds of training :
- Master degree (maximum duration of 2 years)
- Doctoral degree (maximum duration of 3 years, only on a shared cost basis)

Requirements

• Minimum diploma : bachelor degree / S1
• Fluent in English (or French)
• Less than 35 years old
• Minimum GPA score of 3 (except for fundamental sciences - 3,5)
• Submit all the documents specified in the application form
  

The selection committee will give priority to applicants who have already identified a master/PhD program and have had a positive answer from a French professor (or an acceptance letter)..


Field of studies
Priority will be given to the following fields of studies :

• Engineering (water management, agronomy, civil engineering, information technology...)
• Sciences (biotechnologies, information and communication technologies, environment, risk and disaster management, energy, etc.)
• Public administration, economy
• Law and political sciences
  

Applications from students in other fields are nevertheless welcome, as acceptance will be primarily based on excellence.

• Second step : motivation interview (French or English languages only) in Jakarta

• intensive French language course : length according to the applicant’s needs and level (from survival course to extensive 11 months program)

USA - WIFLE Scholarships Program 2009: Scholarships in Law Enforcement for US Citizen

WIFLE Foundation, Inc. and Women in Federal Law Enforcement, Inc. (both known as WIFLE) are organizations with a goal to achieve gender equity within federal law enforcement through the recruitment, retention and promotion of qualified women in law enforcement, and to develop an information-sharing and support network for all women in law enforcement.

In July 2006 the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics announced that as of September 2004, there were more than 106,000 full time personnel authorized to make arrests and carry firearms in the Federal government. Women represent 16.1% of that workforce. There remains much to be done to achieve gender balance within the federal agencies. It is in the spirit of achieving this goal that WIFLE offers scholarships.

THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Purpose: WIFLE offers several scholarships to talented individuals to meet the demands in the field of law enforcement and to foster the professional development of those engaged in law enforcement. The dollar amount of each scholarship will be $2,500, but can vary based on numerous factors. WIFLE awarded $16,000 in scholarships in 2008. Awards may be renewable on subsequent applications.

Eligibility: WIFLE scholarships are awarded based on a student’s academic potential, achievement, and commitment to serving communities in the field of law enforcement. The scholarship is open to all eligible persons. To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must:

• physically attend and be a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university; or be currently enrolled full time in a fully accredited community college with the intention of transferring to a four-year degree;
• have completed at least one full academic year of college work at an accredited college or university or community college;
• major in Criminal Justice or a related discipline such as social sciences, public administration, computer science, finance, linguistic arts, chemistry, physics, etc., leading to a four-year degree (Students in graduate and postgraduate programs are also eligible; students pursuing Associate degrees are not eligible, unless as stated above, fully articulate in the application their intention to transfer to a four-year program.);
• have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average (GPA);
• demonstrate a commitment to the community through a 500-word essay describing their involvement in a community project, and the results or impact of that involvement to the community; OR, if the applicant is currently serving or has served an internship with a law enforcement agency, preferably a federal law enforcement agency, the applicant must provide details including the name of the agency, the dates served and describe the value of the experience and the accomplishment through the internship in a 500-word essay;
• have at least one community leader or member of a community or police official sponsor their application with a written statement of support;
• submit a completed application with the required information, 500-word essay, transcripts, and a recommendation letter from a community leader or police official;
• be a citizen of the United States.
  

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

Information and applications are available through the WIFLE website at www.WIFLE.org and must be received by the Scholarship Coordinator no later than May 1, 2009. Extensions will not be granted. Applications that are incomplete or received after the deadline will not be considered. Letters of recommendation should be mailed with the application, if possible, but must be received by the deadline. NZDS 2010: New Zealand Development Scholarships For Undergraduate and Postgraduate

The New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) scheme offers the opportunity to people from selected developing countries to undertake development-related studies in New Zealand. This may include study related to education, health, rural livelihoods, governance, human rights, or economic development, depending on the human resource development training needs of the home government.

New Zealand - Development Scholarships are offered for full-time, tertiary level study at participating New Zealand education institutions.

The NZDS scheme has two categories:

1. New Zealand Development Scholarships – Public category (NZDS-Public)
2. New Zealand Development Scholarships – Open category (NZDS-Open)

NZDS-Open scholarships are generally directed at employees of private sector or civil society sector organisations, including non-governmental organisations. In some countries, public sector employees can also apply for a NZDS-Open scholarship depending on the country or region-specific selection criteria. This criteria also determines the levels and the fields of study under which candidates can apply to study in New Zealand.
