MISS RUSSIA 2011

In addition to Finland and Slovak Republic, Russia elected new royalty today. The new Miss Russia 2011 is Natalia Kantemurova of Moscow. First runner-up was Anastasiya Mashukova from Krasnoyarsk (East Siberia), and second runner-up was Jana Dubnik from Novosibirsk (West Siberia). The pageant's finals were held at the Barvikha Luxury Village concert hall in Moscow's suburbs. Along with the title and the crown, Kantemurova received a cash prize of $100,000 and a grant to study at any university anywhere in the world.

Мисс Татарстан-2011 is 20-year-old Elvina Valiev, Contestant No. 8. She beat out 29 other competitors for the coveted title over the weekend during a glittering, gala ceremony in the capital city of Kazan. Elvina competed in last year's Miss Tatarstan and was a runner-up to Irina Sharipova, who represented Russia at Miss World 2010. Elvina will represent her republic at the Miss Russia 2011, set for March 5. Tatarstan is a constituent republic of the Russian Federation. Two interesting facts to note about Tatarstan: it is one of the most economically developed regions of Russia, and a majority of the population is Muslim.

MISS KRASNOYARSK 2010

Elmira Gimadeeva, 19, is the new Miss Krasnoyarsk 2010. She won the title on Saturday during a beauty contest in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Sixteen women took part in the competition, which is a regional stage of Miss Russia.

SHE'S A BEAUTY

Darya Konovalova, 22 and a student, is the new Beauty of Russia 2010. The first runner-up in the 16th annual edition of the pageant was Tatyana Sayapina from Voronezh and the second runner-up was Yekaterina Starikova from Novosibirsk.

MISS MOSCOW 2010

Miss Moscow celebrated its 15th anniversary on Thursday night. The winner was Natalia Perevierseva, 23 and a finance student. She beat out 32 other competitors and will represent Moscow in the next Miss Russia pageant.
